This large mural with the title “Erkenntnis” (Insight) by El Bocho is located in a commercial courtyard at Gitschiner Straße 94, Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The artwork is clearly visible from the U1/U3 elevated railway between Prinzenstraße and Hallesches Tor stations—on the right-hand side when heading from Prinzenstraße towards Hallesches Tor.
Created in September 2021, the mural reflects El Bocho’s signature style that blends Pop Art and comic aesthetics. Known as one of Germany’s most prominent street artists, El Bocho (born 1978 in Frankfurt am Main, active in Berlin since 2003) often explores urban emotions and identity through striking portraits and vivid colors.
While he first gained fame for his darkly humorous “Little Lucy” series, this work continues his focus on introspective female figures, commenting on the emotional worlds of young city dwellers.
Over time, the mural has suffered some damage — black paint appears to have run down parts of the wall, dulling its once vibrant colors. Despite this, the piece remains clearly recognizable and continues to stand out as a strong visual statement in the area.by El Bocho, located in a commercial courtyard at Gitschiner Straße 94, Berlin-Kreuzberg.
