This is the mural at the UK’s first public wallball court in the Marlborough Sports Garden in London. The artwork makes use of the Droste effect: when players play against this wall, they are playing against a piece of art depicting players playing wallball against a piece of art. In the background, the iconic London skyline can be seen. This emphasises the urban nature of the sport. Wallball is designed to be played in confined, urban spaces where there is little room for traditional sports pitches.

The mural was designed and created by the UK Wallball sports association, in collaboration with the Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) and the Jack Petchey Foundation. It was completed in time for the court’s opening in April 2021.
