Description

'Eye Contact’ is a striking mural on the façade of the Gold restaurant at 95–97 Portobello Road: an impressive relief portrait by the Portuguese street artist Vhils (Alexandre Farto). Vhils carved and chiselled the image from the outer layer of the wall, revealing a layered portrait. This project was his first in-situ installation at an outdoor location in London.

The restaurant and the striking artwork – which provoked very mixed reactions in the neighbourhood – were opened and unveiled on 3 June 2019.
