Description

A wall in the lobby of ibis Christchurch depicting the gifting of a taonga (treasure) of a carved bone Manaia, inlaid with Paua shell. In Māori culture, a Manaia is a mythological creature who serves as a messenger between the mortal and spiritual worlds. When worn, the taonga protects the wearer from evil and brings good luck.
