Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, surrounded by urban art and public murals, Statik says he was inspired by the graffiti culture but after an arrest for “vandalism” he began a mission to legitimize the production of aerosol murals. As cofounder of RK Design Statik has fused his graffiti aesthetic with a classical training, producing more than 200 murals along with numerous CD covers, book illustrations and logo designs, while also committing himself to instructing children and mentoring young artists. In 2014 Statik was invited to paint this 2014 mural at South Blvd. and Eddie Robinson Sr Dr. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
