"NOLA HEALTHCARE WON'T BOW DOWN"

Originating with the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans and their history of perseverance, the phrase “Won’t Bow Down” is now often associated with Post-Katrina New Orleans and adopted by the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2020 “NOLA Healthcare Won’t Bow Down” also become a grassroots campaign to rally the spirit of the city behind its healthcare workers. New Orleans transplant artist and musician Brent Houzenga says “it is we who write history as it is made” and he was one of six artists asked to create posters and prints memorializing that chapter of NOLA history. Houzenga went one step further and applied his design to this mural on Esplanade Ave looking toward Bayou St John and City Park.  @houzenga/
