As part of this year’s Urban Art project, a drab façade at the parking lot on Zollhüttengasse has been transformed into a vibrant mural celebrating the long-standing friendship between Schwäbisch Hall and its twin town of Épinal. Ute-Christine Berger, the City’s Cultural Affairs Officer, commissioned local designer Tobias Bauer to create an original artwork for this special occasion—and we believe he has succeeded brilliantly. The delegation from Épinal was certainly delighted when they visited the mural on 24 August 2024. Tobias Bauer was assisted by Philipp Volke and Luis Bauer. An official inauguration ceremony took place on Wednesday, 4 September 2024, featuring French-inspired music by the ORTE Collective, along with refreshments. Special thanks go to Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Hall and the City’s Department of Economic Affairs, Tourism and Real Estate for their generous support of the project. “Urban Art is a contemporary form of cultural expression that reaches everyone, including people who do not necessarily visit museums or galleries,” emphasizes Mayor Daniel Bullinger. “To identify suitable locations for future projects, we invite residents to suggest municipal buildings or structures where new murals could be created.”
