PBOY voulais montrer une Joconde de notre temps, dénudée et vulnérable.

Sans la protection de la vitre blindée du musée, simplement une présence humaine fragile.

Et pourtant elle reste là, calme, presque hors du temps.

Au lieu des montagnes mystérieuses et du paysage naturel de Léonard de Vinci, une vision plus sombre et contemporaine de Paris. En arrière-plan, la cathédrale Notre-Dame brûle et le Louvre apparaît pillé.

Des symboles d’un monde où même les institutions les plus sacrées peuvent sembler fragiles.

Peindre cette nouvelle Joconde dans un tunnel froid et humide, situé directement sous le Louvre donne à l’œuvre tout son sens.

Elle devient presque un contrepoint à la peinture originale située au-dessus, protégée par une vitre blindée dans un des musées les plus prestigieux du monde. Alors que cette Joconde souterraine et dénudée est sans aucune protections ; elle est à la merci de l'érosion, de l'humidité et des graffitis. Deux Jocondes, deux univers.

PBOY wanted to show a Mona Lisa of our time, naked and vulnerable.

Without the protection of the armored glass of the museum, simply a fragile human presence.

And yet she remains there, calm, almost out of time.

Instead of the mysterious mountains and natural landscape of Leonardo da Vinci, a darker and contemporary vision of Paris. In the background, Notre-Dame Cathedral is burning and the Louvre appears to be looted.

Symbols of a world where even the most sacred institutions can seem fragile.

Painting this new Mona Lisa in a cold and damp tunnel, located directly under the Louvre gives the work all its meaning.

It becomes almost a counterpoint to the original painting located above, protected by an armored glass in one of the most prestigious museums in the world. While this underground and bare Mona Lisa is without any protection; it is at the mercy of erosion, moisture, and graffiti. Two Jocondes, two universes.

Pascal Boyart est un artiste peintre basé sur Paris, connu pour son parcours unique mêlant street art, peinture traditionnelle et innovations technologiques.

Passionné de dessin depuis son plus jeune âge, il grandit à deux pas du terrain vague de la Chapelle, berceau du graffiti européen.

C’est donc naturellement en tant que graffeur qu’il débute son parcours en se faisant un nom dans le milieu de l'art urbain. Monde dans lequel son style figuratif et sa virtuosité technique lui font rapidement gagner le respect de ses pairs. Ainsi, il recouvre pendant près de quinze ans les murs de la capitale de ses fresques ultra réalistes. 

De cette période urbaine, Pascal conserve une fascination évidente pour le portrait monumental. Il concentre aujourd'hui toute sa réflexion sur la représentation du regard et l'exploration de son potentiel expressif. Il rend ainsi hommage à la complexité infinie de la relation qu'entretient le visage humain avec l'âme, cette dernière étant à la fois la partie la plus essentielle mais aussi la plus cachée de chaque individu.

Pascal Boyart is a painter based in Paris, known for his unique journey mixing street art, traditional painting and technological innovations.

Passionate about drawing since a young age, he grew up close to the vacant lot of the Chapel, cradle of European graffiti.

It is therefore naturally as a graffiti artist that he begins his journey by making a name for himself in the field of urban art. World in which his figurative style and technical virtuosity quickly earned him the respect of his peers. Thus, he covered the walls of the capital for nearly fifteen years with his ultra-realistic frescoes.

From this urban period, Pascal retains an obvious fascination for the monumental portrait. He now focuses all his reflection on the representation of the gaze and the exploration of its expressive potential. It thus pays homage to the infinite complexity of the relationship between the human face and the soul, the latter being both the most essential but also the most hidden part of each individual.
