The original title "jocamu ancora" is in the Calabrian dialect, in Italian it says "giochiamo ancora" "let's play again".

Fino a qualche decennio fa in Calabria si giocava ancora ad un gico chiamato "piroci" (una trottola di legno con punta metallica) un gioco antico millenni arrivato fino in Calabria con i Greci.

Avendo deciso con il Comune di Benestare di realizzare un murale che rappresentasse i giochi di una volta, ho subito ripensato a quando da piccolo anche io giocavo a questo gioco, uno dei pochi che resisteva ancora, prima che venisse definitivamente sostituito dall'era digitale. Ripensavo a quando i giochi li dovevamo inventare, costruire, non era tutto pronto, questo stimolava la creatività e la fantasia, oltre all'infinita attività fisica fino allo sfinimento. Poi via via i videogiochi, i cellulari e i bambini hanno cominciato a giocare sempre meno per strada... Da qui il titolo "Jocamu ancora" giochiamo ancora appunto, un invito a riscoprire questi giochi e insegnarli ai bambini, non per spirito di conservazione, ma perché stimolare la creatività e l'ingegno dei bambini di oggi è fondamentale per quando saranno gli adulti di domani.

Until a few decades ago, in Calabria, people still played a game called "piroci" (a wooden spinning top with a metal tip), a millennia-old game that arrived in Calabria with the Greeks.

Having decided with the Municipality of Benestare to create a mural depicting these games of the past, I immediately thought back to when I, too, played this game as a child, one of the few that still survived, before it was definitively replaced by the digital age. I thought back to when we had to invent and build games; not everything was ready-made; this stimulated creativity and imagination, as well as endless physical activity to the point of exhaustion. Then, gradually, video games, cell phones, and children began to play less and less in the streets... Hence the title "Jocamu ancora" (let's still play), an invitation to rediscover these games and teach them to children, not out of a sense of preservation, but because stimulating the creativity and ingenuity of today's children is essential for when they become the adults of tomorrow.
