Garganey in Comino

The mural featuring a garganey (Spatula querquedula) was created as part of a project that uses street art to raise awareness of migratory birds and the threats they face. Malta lies along an important migration route between Europe and Africa, where illegal hunting remains a serious problem for many species. The duck depicted in the mural draws attention to the richness of birdlife, whose members travel vast distances every year, and to the importance of protecting them.
