Inspired by the theme of theater, Casciu's work draws influence from Japanese folklore, depicting the Tengu mask, used in Noh theater.
In Japanese mythology, Tengu are supernatural creatures, half-man and half-bird. Once considered demons, they have become protectors of forests and temples, possessing great wisdom and mystical powers. Furthermore, thanks to their long nose, a symbol of enormous power, they have an apotropaic function, making them formidable guardians against evil spirits and protectors of the entire country.
