The symbolism of the image is quite clear: Malofeev was a native of Odesa, a city with a strong maritime identity. The artist portrayed him as an old Odesa sailor, adding a parrot as a characteristic maritime attribute.Malofeev was an active participant of the Revolution of Dignity, a volunteer and a veteran of the war in Donbas. He later became involved in military-patriotic education of children and young people. He died in Odesa on February 21, 2021, at the age of 65.
