Street Art Cities

The character steps out into the wide world, facing the unknown. The idea originated with the young people of St. Bonifatius College. During a graffiti workshop, they expressed their sympathy for Utrecht Pride and felt it was important for us to dare to show our full self. That is what this work is about: a character stepping into the light.

In 2022, the international peace movement MasterPeace, together with professional artists, developed a series of murals. Inspired by the vision  of young people of their 'city without walls,' the theme of the celebration of 900 years of city rights. The artworks leave a lasting memory of the celebration.

Het personage stapt de wijde wereld in, het onbekende tegemoet. De oorsprong van het idee ligt bij de jongeren van het St. Bonifatiuscollege. Zij spraken tijdens een graffiti workshop sympathie uit voor de Utrecht Pride en vonden het belangrijk dat iedereen zichzelf durft te laten zien. Daar gaat dit werk over, een personage dat het licht in stapt.

Geïnspireerd op de visie van jongeren op hun 'stad zonder muren', het thema van de viering van 900 jaar stadsrechten.De kunstwerken laten een duurzame herinnering achter aan de viering.
