The central idea behind this mural is contrast. An old, unattractive Soviet apartment block becomes the canvas for a complex Renaissance-style temple — filled with graceful arches, columns, and ornate details. It’s both a playful irony and a dialogue between eras and aesthetics.
The work brings forward themes of heritage, beauty, and universal human values, creating a conversation between the old and the idealized. Even for those less familiar with art history, the visual intention is clear.
The mural was created by the “Gyva Grafika” duo and funded by the Kaunas City Municipality.
