The late Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett helped put Australian rock on the map, she passed away on 21 April 2013, after a long battle with breast cancer.
Amphlett Lane, off Little Bourke Street between Spring and Exhibition streets, was officially named in honour of Chrissy and declared open in February 2015.
The re-naming of Corporation Lane 1639 to the decidedly more colourful Amphlett Lane comes almost two years after a petition attracted more than 7000 signatures and the lobbying of "Team Chrissy", a group comprised of author Jessica Adams, music writer Jenny Valentish, Drayton, Little Pattie and Amphlett's literary agent, Fran Moore.
As well as a commemorative plaque, the artwork here features the singer's iconic schoolgirl uniform and her beloved dogs, it is by Tasmanian artist Peter Gouldthorpe.
