Antiche trame

Mural created at Derive Street Art Festival in Rive (VC) curated by Luca Borriello of Inward. The art of knitting is an ancient and deeply important activity, passed down through generations, which has taken on many different connotations over time. It reminds me of the warmth of my grandmother Modesta, who passed away just a year ago, who knitted me colorful socks and warmed my feet with her hands. I also see it as a tool for struggle and independence, an surely anti-consumerist spirit. The work explores the concept of "weave," not only as a textile weave, but also as a narrative passed down through generations. It depicts an intimate moment, an elderly woman passing on ancient knowledge to her granddaughter, the wisdom of threads.
