This mural is a contemporary reinterpretation of Józef Chełmoński’s iconic painting “The Storks.” Cukin Art reimagines the famous rural scene as it might look today. Instead of a farmer and his son, the artwork shows a modern family on a bike trip outside the city.
The background is filled with elements of the present day: new housing developments, cars, wind turbines, and rooftops covered with solar panels. Even the storks — the symbolic centerpiece of Chełmoński’s original — are replaced by a drone hovering above the landscape.
The only direct reference to the painting is the pose of the father and son, echoing the composition of the 19th‑century artwork. Everything around them, however, belongs to a completely different world. A question emerges: is this what a countryside escape looks like today?
