Minerva

Description

For this production, I drew inspiration from Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge in Roman mythology.
Minerva's owl takes flight at dusk, once the events have concluded. Understanding of things only occurs once the sequence is complete. Over the centuries, this owl has also become a symbol of philosophy and the fight against obscurantism.
I continually play with dualities in my painting: human and machine, organic and mechanical, nature and the city. My character evokes the fusion of humans with machines, but also the factory workers of our industrial past.
The flower is a peony, a symbol of honor and hope.
The constituent elements of the work become a labyrinth, a graphic interplay of objects
which, when placed end to end, allow each person to create meaning and appropriation.
