Warszawiacy - Powstańcy - Wrocławianie

On Monday, May 20, we unveiled a memorial mural in Wrocław, unlike any other city in Poland. The painting shows contemporary portraits of the Warsaw Insurgents whose post-war fate and life paths led them

from Warsaw to Wrocław:

Barbara Sowa alias Basia (born 1918)

Jerzy Tarnawski alias Gawron (born 1926)

Maria Urbaniec-Downarowicz alias Myszka (born 1927)

Teresa Moździerz alias Sokół (born 1928)

Barbara Majewska-Krzysik alias Ewa (born 1928)

Andrzej Jakubowski alias Kim (born 1928, died 2023)

Stanisław Wołczaski alias Kazimierz (born 1930)

Włodzimierz Ruśkiewicz alias Ryś (born 1931)

There is a QR code on the mural that takes you to the website: https://mural.bohateron.pl/ - there you can see the biographies and stories of the insurgents immortalized on the wall of the tenement house.

It was an extraordinary event during which we were honored by the presence of the Warsaw Insurgents and their families, representatives of the uniformed services, local government officials and school students.
