ABOUT THE ARTIST: Andre Trenier is an internationally recognized street artist and large-scale muralist from New York. Celebrated for photorealistic aerosol portraiture, Trenier frequently paints tributes honoring prominent sports figures, musical icons, and grassroots leaders across the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. ABOUT THE PIECE: Entitled "Emancipation: Coming Together for Cup Match," the mural pays homage to Bermuda's premier holiday—Emancipation Day and the historic annual Cup Match cricket rivalry. The composition highlights lifelike portraits of two joyful Cup Match revellers representing opposing sides of the island's cricket derby: Sylvan Richardson (left), sporting a wide-brimmed red hat with tinted sunglasses, his beard split-dyed in Somerset (red) and St. George’s (blue) team colors (based on photography by Akil Simmons). Lisa Weekes (right), laughing in bold patterned shades with blue celebratory ribbons woven into her hair (based on photography by Anthony Wade). Along the lower yellow base, a miniature figurative vignette captures the energy of the cricket grounds mid-match against a backdrop of rolling teal waves and foliage.
