The mural depicts the architectural and ornamental forms common to both sides of the border. For inspiration, the artist repeatedly traveled to the Gothic Quarter of Valencia de Alcántara and the Jewish Quarter of Marvão, later capturing the elements repeated in both in the mural.

The pointed arches at the entrances to the houses and the tile tracery of the interiors are noteworthy. The cross of the Order of Alcántara is also represented, highlighting the importance of this order and the belonging to it of most of the towns in the Reserve.

En el mural se representan aquellas formas arquitectónicas y ornamentales comunes a ambos lados de la raya. La artista, para tomar inspiración, se desplazó en repetidas ocasiones al Barrio Gótico de Valencia de Alcántara y al Barrio Judío de Marvao, plasmando más tarde en el mural, aquellas que se repetían en ambos.

Hay que destacar los ojivales de entrada de las casas y las tracerías de azulejos de los interiores. La cruz de la Orden de Alcántara también está representada, poniendo de manifiesto la importancia de esta orden y la pertenencia a ella de la mayoría de los pueblos de la Reserva.
