Cosmea, Sunflower and Magnolia

The Waste Department of the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch called on the help of Kings of Colors in 2021 to start transforming the boring metal containers in the city into beautiful colorful works of art.

These were painted by Loes van Reijmersdal with assistance of Marloes Vreeswijk.

Dutch artist Loes van Reijmersdal (1995) lives and works in 's-Hertogenbosch (NL). In 2021 she obtained her BFA at the Art Academy St. Joost, School of Art&Design in 's-Hertogenbosch. She works with enthusiasm to develop herself as an artist and is currently following a tattoo apprenticeship.

In addition to her independent development, she also likes to collaborate. She is part of the production team of The Artist Way Initiative, led by Naomi King. And together with Naomi King, she forms the street artist duo Zoet & Frizzz.

As a multimedia artist, Loes her work includes graphic techniques, murals, drawings, photography and spatial installations.

For Loes, flowers have a symbolic value of strength, comfort and inspiration. She uses them as a metaphor for the circle of life, from growth process to transience. The stages of the flower are translated into image and material.

The original concept would be two containers (sunflower and cosmea), and then Loes got a third one. At the time of preparation, her grandmother passed away, so the choice of what to paint on this one was not difficult. A memoir to her grandma, the magnolia tree from her garden.
