Le Renard et Le Corbeau

Description

Inspired by Jean de La Fontaine's timeless fable The Fox and the Crow, Dulk reimagines the classic story in his unmistakable dreamlike visual language. Created in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, France, as part of a project coordinated by Galerie 36e Art, Le Renard et Le Corbeau transforms a familiar childhood tale into a powerful reflection on humanity's relationship with nature.

At first glance, the mural is filled with the whimsical creatures and lush forests that have become Dulk's signature. A majestic tree, shaped like a wild boar, shelters a cast of expressive animals, while the fox and crow take center stage. Yet a closer look reveals a darker narrative. Rather than depicting the clever fox tricking the crow into dropping its cheese, Dulk portrays the animals as vulnerable victims. Painted with target marks, they become symbols of wildlife under constant threat, while the fox itself has been pierced by an arrow and appears to cling desperately to the crow.

By overturning the moral of the original fable, Dulk shifts the focus away from deception and flattery toward a more urgent message about human impact on the natural world. The mural questions our tendency to admire wildlife while simultaneously exploiting and endangering it. Blending fantasy with environmental commentary, Le Renard et Le Corbeau is both visually enchanting and deeply thought-provoking, inviting viewers to reconsider the stories we tell and the consequences of our actions.

Hi, i am Jens. 44 years old, living in Cologne Germany. I got addicted to street art during my holidays in Madrid in 2010. I was bored and saw several nice murals on the streets. So i tried to find as many as possible and took pictures. Since then my addiction grew a lot. Today i am travelling the world to spot as many murals as possible.
