Op de achterzijde van sporthal Den Box in Haacht bracht de Antwerpse muralist DZIA een indrukwekkende havik tot leven in zijn kenmerkende dynamische stijl. De roofvogel, afgebeeld in een krachtige aanvalshouding, vormt een nieuwe blikvanger langs de Animalinas wandel- en fietsroute.

De havik is een verborgen bewoner van het Haachtse landschap. Deze krachtige roofvogel jaagt vanuit de bomen of vanuit een lage vlucht en kan tijdens een verrassingsaanval snelheden tot ongeveer 100 kilometer per uur bereiken. Door deze mural wordt een dier dat vaak onopgemerkt blijft letterlijk in het straatbeeld geplaatst en krijgen voorbijgangers de kans om de lokale biodiversiteit met nieuwe ogen te ontdekken.

Met Animalinas wil DZIA de natuurgebieden van Rivierenland verbinden door kunstwerken die de soorten tonen die er leven. De meer dan 100 kilometer lange route brengt wandelaars en fietsers langs verschillende murals, waarbij elk dier een verhaal vertelt over de unieke fauna van de regio.

DZIA vertelt over zijn werk: “De havik is een krachtige maar vaak onopgemerkte bewoner van onze streek. Met deze muurschildering hoop ik mensen even te laten stilstaan bij de dieren die hier elke dag om ons heen leven. Zo brengt kunst de lokale natuur dichter bij een breed publiek.”

On the back of the Den Box sports hall in Haacht, Antwerp muralist DZIA brought an impressive hawk to life in his characteristic dynamic style. The bird of prey, depicted in a powerful attack stance, forms a new eye-catcher along the Animalinas walking and cycling route.

The hawk is a hidden inhabitant of the Haacht landscape. This powerful bird of prey hunts from the trees or from low flight and can reach speeds of up to approximately 100 kilometers per hour during a surprise attack. Through this mural, an animal that often remains unnoticed is literally placed in the streetscape, giving passers-by the chance to discover local biodiversity with fresh eyes.

With Animalinas, DZIA aims to connect the nature reserves of Rivierenland through artworks that showcase the species living there. The route, which is over 100 kilometers long, takes walkers and cyclists past various murals, with each animal telling a story about the unique fauna of the region. DZIA talks about his work: “The hawk is a powerful but often unnoticed inhabitant of our region. With this mural, I hope to make people pause for a moment to reflect on the animals that live around us here every day. In this way, art brings local nature closer to a broad audience.”
