A tiny sculpture in the urban environment: Spanish artist Isaac Cordal uses miniature figures to draw attention to details that are easily overlooked in everyday life. His works blend into existing architecture and often reveal themselves only to those who look more closely.
The sculpture belongs to the artistic context of Cement Eclipses, one of Cordal’s best-known projects. In this series, he places small figures in unusual situations and unexpected locations in public spaces. The interaction between figure and setting often creates absurd, melancholic or ironic scenes. These works invite viewers to reflect on human behaviour, social structures and the relationship between individuals and their urban surroundings.
Cordal’s work is also part of Laon’s local street-art landscape. The city’s first International Festival of Urban Arts took place in June 2022, with French street artist C215 (Christian Guémy) responsible for the artistic organisation. Alongside large-scale murals, sculptures were installed in the historic city centre.
