Fortuna Düsseldorf was 2009 successfully asserting itself in the second Bundesliga. The new project by the Flingeran neighbors Fortuna Düsseldorf and Stadtwerke Düsseldorf also fits in with this: "We had a transformer station on Kaiserswerther Straße - very close to the Arena - designed by graffiti artist Peter Norf. The Fortuna emblem and portraits of Andreas "Lumpi" Lambertz and the legendary Toni Turek now adorn the previously rather unspectacular station, which is kept in green tones.

As was the case with the joint design of the Fortuna fan tram, the very good cooperation between Fortuna Düsseldorf and Stadtwerke Düsseldorf was also evident in this extraordinary project," says Rainer Pennekamp, ​​board member of Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, enthusiastic about the graffiti project.


The transformer station is on the subway line to the stadium, at the corner of Kaiserswerther Straße and Begonienstraße. At every home game, thousands of fans pass through the transformer station on their way to the ESPRIT arena: "From now on, our fans can get in the mood for their team even better on the way to the stadium," striker Marco Christ welcomes the commitment of the main sponsor Fortuna Stadtwerke Düsseldorf. "Of course, we players are happy about every project that deals with Fortuna in the city and cements the mutual connection in the truest sense of the word," Christ continued.

 
Soiling of Stadtwerke-owned buildings by illegal sprayers regularly leads to a high cleaning effort in terms of time and money. "Stadtwerke Düsseldorf have chosen a smart approach by offering established graffiti art an unusual and public platform and at the same time beautifying the cityscape with exciting motifs," says Peter Norf, graffiti artist from Monheim.
