S'arracher les Cheveux

This collage is part of the “Au pied de la Lettre” (To the letter) series begun by Les Murs ont des Oreilles in the fall of 2020.
The expression “S’arracher les cheveux” (to tear one’s hair out) is illustrated by the painting “Young Girl Holding a Flower,” created in 1875 by the French painter Pierre Désiré Guillemet.
For this piece, the collage artist replaced the flower with a lock of hair.
The artwork’s colors have faded significantly over time, but it is still visible today.
