Open Museum

Peschkenhaus, Meerstr. 1, Moers by Marion Ruthardt from Duisburg
The gallery at that time was unfortunately closed due to corona, so Marion wanted to bring the art to the outside world.

The Peschkenhaus is a living example of exceptional civic engagement in Moers. After it was closed as a municipal gallery, the community center could be acquired by a civil stock corporation. The long-standing, supraregional importance as an exhibition space for contemporary art has been successfully continued by the Art Association Peschkenhaus Moers, founded in 2007.

As the owner of the Peschkenhaus, the Bürgeraktiengesellschaft began renovating and making the building suitable for disabled people in May 2013. The Peschkenhaus dates from the 15th century and is the oldest surviving town house in the city. After completing all of the work, the Kunstverein reopened the new Peschkenhaus in late summer 2014 and, with regular exhibitions and events, is an important component in the cultural life of the city of Moers
