"Septimus", Seidenweberhaus, Krefeld by Lydia Hitzfeld  and her daughter Vanessa  from Kevelaer as part of the "Silk City Gallery" and the Krefeld change of perspective under the artistic direction of Fredda Wouters from Kevelaer.

A gigantic pink octopus with seven tentacles crouches on the “Seidenweberhaus” and threatens to crush the concrete giant, destroy everything, cast a spell over everyone and drag him into the depths of the sea. No one in the haze escapes their suckers, and of course that means the drug addicts who have found their second home here on Theaterplatz!

But there's more: a cat just disappearing into a cat flap. This is the connection to the work “Last Exit” by the Argentinian artist colleague Eduardo Relero, who works around the corner. The principle of hope! If the cat manages to escape, it is also possible for the people here to escape the vicious circle of addiction!
You octopus also symbolizes crime, the drug gangs that now completely rule this area.

As with many other works of art here, shamanism also plays a central role! The octopus is a power animal. With their help you can bring the fears to the surface so that they no longer have you under control, but you have the fears! The animal that lives in the greatest depths of the world's oceans should remind us that there is also a spark of light there in the eternal darkness. The light stands for forgiveness and acceptance.
