Joram Roukes and Roy Schreuder painted the whole building (some walls measure 6 x 30 meters) on the grounds of "Creative Coöperation" (de Creatieve Corporatie), a gathering place for creatives in the city of Zwolle. Roukes and Schreuder painted a wolf on one side of the building and a large boat on the other. Both are collage-like compositions. The theme for the work of art, as devised by the entrepreneurs of the Creative Cooperation, is cooperation and connection. The wolf, broken free from its chains, stands for the individual strengths of the qualities of the collective. The boat not only refers to the shipping history of the place, but is also a representation of keeping an operation afloat. The two expressions are different in character, organic and industrial, mobile and static, but represent the same idea of unity and connection. The wolf hunts down the idea with which this project is realised. The boat is the collective structure. The Project. The Cooperation. Both wolf and boat are connected by the decor of brightly coloured shapes and heavy chains. The chains have a multitude of references. It anchors the boat and at the same time it symbolises the breaking loose of the norm.
