Tribute to Gloria Casarez

Completed: October 11, 2015

This mural is dedicated to the cities first director of LGBT affairs, Gloria Casarez, who was appointed in 2008. During her time, the city had the broadest gay rights protections in the nation. Included in her efforts, she also was a founder of the Philly Dyke March (as shown to the right). This woman ten got to marry her long time partner in 2011. She unfortunately passed away in 2014 of breast cancer. This piece, in her honor, will always remind and show what this city was able to accomplish because of her.
