A facade of forty meters wide and several floors high of the Jacob Roelandslyceum in Boxtel shows a mural with animals that live in the Dommelbimd, the nearby area of ​​the school. It all started with a few sketches that Gamze (17) and Sanne (17), two students of the school, designed during the corona home lessons of the school subject culture (dance, drama, music and visual). Teacher Debby Verschuren and her colleague Paulien van de Mortel, devised a design project for 255 students. As a source of inspiration, the nature reserve of Dommelbimd became the starting point for the design. The question came from the Dommelbimd Foundation, neighbours of the school. Toine Cooijmans of the foundation asked the school to do something with the white wall of their building. Now two kingfishers pop off the wall in bright blue, as do a life-size grasshopper, the dragonfly and the purple lythrum, all animals and plants that occur in the Dommelbimd.
