Above the entrance to Brixton Underground station, Rudy Loewe has created a large mural as part of Transport for London’s ‘Art on the Underground’ programme
Rudy Loewe’s The Congregation features a variety of well-known figures, buildings and events from Brixton, such as the arrival of the Windrush generation.
Eleanor Pinfield, Head of Art on the Underground, said: “In The Congregation, Loewe distils the complexity of social, architectural, individual and generational histories – particularly those of the Black community – into a hugely rich work that spans space and time. Millions of people will enjoy these vivid depictions of life in Brixton and, perhaps, learn more about the scenes featured in the work as they pass through the station.”
