Lion Dancer

The painting was supposed to be a temporary piece but the building has yet to be torn down.
“Painted this quick little Lion Dancer at the Koermann Block based on a photo taken in Edmonton outside of the Harbin Gate during a celebration. This was a request from the Chinese community - I had originally intended to paint one of the stone lions that is carved onto the gate, but the Lion Dancer was requested instead. The Harbin Gate, a part of Edmonton's downtown for about 30 years, is being relocated so that the LRT construction can be completed. The gate represents Edmonton's relationship to its sister city in China, Harbin.” -AJA Louden
