This mural is created by artist Bao (IG @simplebao) with her creation of goddess of the sea, goddess of the land and goddess of light to safeguard our lively planet. The artist aims to raise public awareness in some highly trafficked species, such as rhinos, pangolins, tigers, pig nose turtles, grey parrot, etc., and to work collectively to stop wildlife traffickers using our city.
Hong Kong is a global wildlife trafficking hub. 53 countries have been involved in wildlife trafficked related to Hong Kong between 2019 and 2020. In 2019 alone, around 138 kgs of rhino horns, 8.3MT of pangolin scales, 2.1MT of ivory and 13MT of shark fins from the threatened species were seized.
