The Camden Pioneer Mural

This mural was presented to the citizens of Camden by the Rotary Club of Camden by Alderman G. T. Griffiths (Mayor). It features various items on several panels, such as Aboriginal hunting, the early industries, various crests and coats of arms and some tools.

...And so it was that Captain Cook sailing in the "Endeavour" discovered this vast land Australia. May be the great sea bird gave joy to those early mariners, little did they think we would use the air as transport over the turbulent seas. The early pioneers settling in Camden, tilled the toil, growing crops, breeding sheep, raising cattle and horses for the people of those bygone days. Producing grapes that gave wine. Discovering coal that has been to use the "flame of industry". All these things and many more gave to the people hope and joy for the great future which is ours. Thus, the great spirit of those early pioneers will always be with us. "Advance to achieve" in our land "beneath the Southern Cross", Australia.
