A UN PASO DEL ABISMO

Mural painted during the Madrid Comic Summit by artists Kike Ar and Dabiz del Reino as a temporary display. The Madrid Comic Summit is the gathering of the Comic Book Industry that takes place every year in Madrid

This installation features characters from Paracuellos, a highly acclaimed, comic book series created by Spanish cartoonist Carlos Giménez. The characters recognizable by their oversized eyes, prominent ears, skinny limbs, and large shoes, showcase their vulnerability, blatant across the whole comic series

Paracuellos chronicles the harsh daily reality experienced by children in Spain’s post-Civil War. The dramatic text bubble "¡¡Estáis a un paso del abismo!!", which translates to "You are one step away from the abyss!!" juxtaposes the heavy existential themes of his classic work against the modern urban backdrop depicted behind the character

The artists use a black and white scheme for the characters, confined in the Past, and shades of green to recreate the Madrid Skyline set in the Present
