This collage was inspired by the art work The Return (1940) by René Magritte.

Magritte was madly in love with his wife Georgette. In May 1940, they were separated as the artist left Belgium during the German invasion. On his return, he painted this bird in front of a starry sky and a nest with eggs in the foreground. The painting represents the return home to his wife, but also offers a major poetic image: the bird and the sky become one, with the clouds replacing the plumage. This symbol would later become the emblem of the Belgian airline Sabena.
