There is a Lady with a log in Twin Peaks, and there is an Old man with a log in Saint Petersburg.
In the XVIII century, a stunted old man walked along the streets of the Petrograd side: he had spent his life on litigation. He was not paid money for firewood, which he supplied under a contract, because logs were allegedly short. And he walked everywhere with a heavy birch log, carefully wrapped in a checkered tissue paper, in case the authorities needed proof of the length of that very wood.
A creative group from Vladivostok "33 + 1" depicted "locals" on the walls of houses of the Petrogradskaya district. A series of sgraffito (a special technique for creating wall images by scratching it on the plaster) is called "Residents of the Petrogradskay". Characters are based on the books by Michail Piliaev, who collected urban legends and anecdotes about people in XIX century.
