Le premier lieu de création de David Mesguish est le numérique, il y dessine les prémices de ses sculptures qui prennent vie de par la rencontre entre technique d’imagerie en 3D et modelage traditionnel. L’artiste est fasciné par l’esthétique polygonale, le glitch art, les jeux vidéo des années 80/90 ainsi que par la dramaturgie de l’art baroque. Ses sculptures questionnent le passé, l’avenir, la condition humaine, la place de l’homme dans l’environnement urbain.
Il nous livre ici, une œuvre monumentale, représentant l’innocence et la pureté de l’enfance, à l’image de sa fille Lucie. La construction urbaine a été réalisée grâce à la collaboration et la participation de l'école de Promotion Sociale Jemappes-Quiévrain, Façozinc et WAX Architecture.

David Mesguich is een internationaal vermaarde Franse kunstenaar. Met dit werkt levert hij een monumentaal poëtisch werk af rond het gezegde “vlinders in de buik hebben.”  Het meisje met de vlinders: “Op een dag vertelde iemand me dat we vlinders in de buik krijgen wanneer we verliefd zijn. Dat beeld is me altijd op een aangename manier bijgebleven, ook al ervaarde ik zelf de dingen niet op die manier. Later kruiste ik het pad van een schilder die twee personages tekende. Elk personage hield met de ene hand eenzelfde hart vast en in de andere hand hielden ze elk een schaar vast. Het beeld wees op een duidelijk ultimatum, met als vraag wie als eerste het hart zou doorknippen.

David Mesguich, an internationally renowned French artist delivers a monumental work of art full of poetry, based on the saying “to have butterflies in the stomach.”  “La petite fille aux papillons” (The little girl with butterflies): “One day someone told me that when you fall in love you get butterflies in your stomach, I have always found this an amusing image whereas I myself didn’t feel things this way, nevertheless I have always kept this image in a corner of my mind. Later on, I came across a painting that illustrated two people each holding the same heart in one hand and in the other hand a pair of scissors, as if to give an ultimatum: who will be the first to cut the heart? In the end I believe that I didn’t like this painting and even less the inevitable aspect that was implied, and yet it fascinated me for a long time and I also photographed it in a corner of my mind.
