Description

“Working with ceramic tile, glass, mirror and recycled building materials such as brick, concrete and asphalt, [Laurel True] designs and creates murals and sculptural forms for public, commercial and residential settings, and as street art around the globe.” From her studio at St. Ferdinand and Chartres Streets the New Orleans Bywater neighborhoods True she has worked, taught, and created community based pieces in urban settings and developing areas all over world. Cofounder of the Institute of Mosaic Art in Berkeley, California, True was also creator of the Global Mosaic Project using art to provide training and change communities, both close to home around New Orleans neighborhoods and globally in places like Haiti, Kenya, and Ghana.
