Mural called « Les cools contes des chiens de la casse » by Montpellier illustrator Dr Ponce done in Sète for the K-Live Festival 2019 « Before launching his own activity, Dr Ponce spent two years at the École supérieure des arts of Montpellier, where he followed courses of graphics, and three years at the École supérieure des arts Saint-Luc in Brussels on the comic art course. After living in the Belgian capital for six years, Dr Ponce has returned to his home city, Montpellier in France. His work is nourished by his background, creating street art and studying comic art. According to him, his love for French old music and for urban nightlife also influence his compositions. As well, Dr Ponce is inspired by other artists whom he particularly appreciates, as Henri Rousseau for instance. All these influences result in a radical approach of drawing and composition. Dr Ponce simplifies things as much as possible, abolishing lines wherever he can, creating a colourful and powerful graphical style. This naïve universe composed of large shapes in flat colours is filled with a collection of strange characters: pretty girls, bizarre creatures or thugs… All these elements are mixed to obtain the most straightforward and striking compositions. » (Source: www.behance.net)
