Kitchenstore 'Keukenlust' closed its doors at the beginning of 2018 after having provided Arendonk and its surroundings with all the necessary kitchen utensils for 70 years. The building has been vacant since then, although occasionally there was some movement. The local fire brigade, for example, used the building to do exercises and the Arendonk Academy used the available empty space during their annual exhibition.
While waiting for a new destination a construction company called in the Arendonk graffiti artist Eltipo. With a facade of almost 480 square meters, he gets a gigantic blank canvas. On the facade, he pays tribute to the old Arendonk dialect and Keukenlust itself by injecting kitchen-related terms into the dialect. For example, a "Zjat" (coffee mug), "Teffeljen" (table) and the Arendonk saying "Wa goade vjèreg moake" (What are you going to prepare) on the facade.
“I have never had such a large white canvas before. I think it's great to be able to make such a unique mural here in my own Arendonk. It promises to be an eye-catcher that will hopefully attract a lot of spectators, "says Eltipo. On Monday he started his mural, which he hopes to finish next Sunday. He used almost 500 spray cans.
