Picasso’s anti-war imagery directly onto a bare concrete wall in the central Nordforum area of the campus. The Guernica Reproduction (1984/2002) at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is a significant anti-war monument created by students. It is a full-scale replica (3.51 × 7.82 meters) of Pablo Picasso's famous 1937 masterpiece, located on the northern exterior wall of the Bochum University Library. It was a direct protest against the NATO Double-Track Decision and the deployment of US Pershing II nuclear missiles in West Germany. Fearing a potential nuclear war, students wanted to create an unmistakable symbol for peace.
