Wall intervention by over 40 urban artists from Italy, Spain, Albania, South America, Luxemburg
Self produced urban art project by 167/B street (laboratory of urban art in Lecce) and Artkademy from Milan.
A regeneration of sense and practice, an anonymous and abandoned building di front of the Adriatic sea re-imagined through urban art. A self produced event with the goal of becoming a meeting point, comparison of ideas, styles and ways of living and producing urban art. San Cataldo, the sea cost adjacent to the city of Lecce. A magnificent and sadly abandoned place that has lost all its identity and attractiveness during the years, vanishing under the shadow of more famous costs in South Italy.
For one week this “ghost town” has lived in a creative and unexpected way. In seven days the large abandoned building in via Amerigo Vespucci, the emblem of the desolation, has been turned into a color bomb and images, rather than a building, a boat ready to sail with its load possibilities.
There was no need for a communique or an official presentation to explain to the bathers what was happening. Oltremare leaves not only beautiful murals from references to environment problem like TAP (transadriatic pipeline), but also a human and artistic experience of exchange and collaboration, imagination and comparison between those who live daily abandonment of these places and those who came from far away to help us reinvent them.
