Wayne Horse is geen straatkunstenaar meer. In de jaren negentig begon de Duitse schilder zijn carrière in de graffitiscene, voordat hij naar de Rijksakademie in Amsterdam verhuisde en zich op andere kunstvormen ging richten. Zijn stijl, even grof als grotesk, lijkt heel sterk op het oeuvre van James Ensor. Horse was bereid om twee muurschilderingen in kleur te maken – voor het eerst in zijn carrière! En als je daar dan ook nog zijn spottende ontleding van de gebrekkige mens, het establishment en de kerk aan toevoegt, is het gemakkelijk te begrijpen waarom hij een – let op de zwangere vrouwen – kind van Ensor is.

Wayne Horse is no street artist ... anymore. In the 1990s, the German painter started his career in the graffiti scene before moving to the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and moving into other art forms. His style, as crude as it is grotesque, is closely related to James Ensor’s. Horse was even willing to make two murals in full colour – for the first time in his career! And when you then also add his mocking dissection of flawed man, the establishment and the church, it’s easy to understand why he is a – note the pregnant women – child of Ensor.
