The Healing Garden at Ascarate Lake was created for people to be able to commemorate the victims and trauma of the mass shooting in El Paso on August 3, 2019. Adding to the solemnity and peace of the garden, Blanca Estrada and Tino Ortega have used paint to express hope and strength that is found in community and service to one another. When you visit this mural, take your time to look around Ascarate Park as there are more murals and a beautiful walking/biking trail, the Playa Drain Trail, on which even more public art is found.
