A once‑bare industrial wall along the Scheldelaan in the Port of Antwerp has evolved into one of Belgium’s most striking open‑air art corridors. Today, the wall stretches for approximately two kilometers, the result of three major painting campaigns carried out in 2019, 2022 and 2024. What began as a 920‑meter initiative has grown into a monumental, multi‑year collaboration that reflects both the diversity of the artists involved and the changing relationship between the port, the river and the surrounding environment.

The project was initiated by the Antwerp Port Authority and the Flemish Waterways Agency, who invited artists to transform the long concrete barrier into a vibrant visual landmark. Eighty graffiti artists from Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Australia took part, including well‑known collectives such as Aerosol Kings and Lastplak. While they were encouraged to explore themes related to nature, the environment, maritime life and the Scheldt, each artist retained full creative freedom. This balance between guidance and autonomy resulted in a wall that feels cohesive in spirit yet rich in individual expression.

Because the wall was painted in three distinct phases, it now reads like a living archive of contemporary street art. Styles range from bold graffiti lettering to detailed figurative murals, from abstract compositions to playful character work. Together, they form a continuous narrative that mirrors the port’s identity: dynamic, international and deeply connected to the river that shapes it.

Hunter

Tiny Tim
Started out hunting the streets in Antwerp, and completely bitten by the 'street art' virus. And the only cure is: HUNT SOME MORE. I love showing people all the amazing Belgian artists, run street art tours in my city and occasionally facilitate new mural projects. I love to travel and meet other hunters and artists. So hit me up when you're in town.
