Street Art Cities

NEDERLANDS - Het gebeurt vaak dat een stationsomgeving een sombere, donkere plaats is. Daarom wilde de stad Vilvoorde een zeer kleurrijke muurschildering die de omgeving zeker zou opvrolijken. Zo kwamen ze terecht bij het kunstcollectief van Hello’O. Hell’O is een duo bestaande uit Jérôme Meynen en Antoine Detaille. Jérôme en Antoine ontmoetten elkaar tijdens hun studies in Bergen (Mons). Vandaag wonen ze in Brussel. Jérôme en Antoine kwamen oorspronkelijk uit de wereld van de graffiti, maar zijn geëvolueerd naar de wereld van de schilderkunst. Voor hun kleurrijke creaties gebruiken ze alleen penselen en borstels. Figuren die vaak terugkomen in hun werk zijn: vreemde dieren, kleine personages en aseksuele wezens. De stijl van Hello’O Collective doet denken aan de fantasiewereld van sprookjes en fabels. Hun composities roepen vaak een surrealistisch en mysterieus universum op. We zien terugkerende elementen, die het duo combineert met nieuwe personages, of opneemt in ongebruikelijke omgevingen.

ENGLISH - It often happens that a station neighborhood is a gloomy, dark place. That is why the city of Vilvoorde wanted a very colorful wall painting that would certainly brighten up the surroundings. That's how they ended up with the Hello’O art collective. Hell’O is a duo consisting of Jérôme Meynen and Antoine Detaille. Jérôme and Antoine met during their studies in Bergen (Mons). Today they live in Brussels. Jérôme and Antoine originally came from the world of the grafitti, but have evolved into the world of painting. For their colorful creations they only use brushes and paint brushes. Figures that often come back in their work are: strange animals, small characters and asexual beings. The style of Hello’O Collective is reminiscent of the fantastic world of fairy tales and fables. Their compositions often evoke a surreal and a mysterious universe. We see recurring elements, which they combine with new characters, or incorporate them into unusual environments.
