Hochtief Haus

Description

The headquarters of the HochTief Group, built in Essen in 1938, survived the Second World War largely undamaged, despite its close proximity to main station and the city center. In 2020, the building was abandoned; Hochtief planned to demolish it in favor of a new company headquarters on the same site. However, the Covid pandemic and the Ukaraine war delayed the planned demolition and put the new building project on hold for the time being. The entrance portal and the entrance door secured with plywood are of course an open invitation to the street art and graffiti scene to beautify this desolate and neglected area.

From time to time, however, a major cleanup takes place, and once again, there is nothing to see but dreary plywood and bare walls.

Andrea Ranke (streetartwalks)
In 2013 I started with a new hobby. In the beginning it was difficult to get reliable information how to find streetart in public space. In 2016, I had the idea of sharing my information with other street art enthusiasts and started my blog “Streetartwalks”. When I found out about this new street art community at the beginning of 2018, I was immediately on board.
